BACCARAT MASSÉNA 11” FRENCH CUT-CRYSTAL DECANTER & FACETED STOPPER

A beautifully poised Baccarat Masséna crystal decanter, combining a generously rounded body, elegant narrowing neck and a splendid jewel-like stopper. French crystal with presence—and quite enough sparkle to command its own corner of the drinks table.

The body is decorated with deep, elongated bevel cuts rising from the base in a rhythmic procession. These tapering cuts catch and divide the light, creating brilliant flashes around the lower body, while the smooth shoulders provide a graceful contrast. Turn it gently and the pattern seems to march around the crystal: hence our little regiment of light.

Above the polished neck sits its magnificent flared, faceted stopper, opening out like a crystal crown. Its radiating cuts echo the disciplined decoration below, bringing the whole composition into handsome balance.

At 1.2kg, this is a reassuringly substantial piece, yet its rounded proportions retain an easy elegance. Displayed empty, it is a sparkling ornament in its own right; brought to the table, it lends a little ceremony to the occasion.

The base bears the acid-etched Baccarat factory mark. No numbers are present on the stopper or neck; the stopper fits neatly.

RESEARCH NOTES:

The Baccarat Massena pattern was first introduced in 1980.

Named after André Masséna, one of Napoleon's most famous field marshals, the collection is known for its dramatic round curves and deep, vertical bevel cuts etched directly into the clear crystal.

CONDITION:

Excellent condition, with no chips, nibbles, cracks, internal clouding or noticeable scratches. The crystal is beautifully clear and the stopper fits neatly. Acid-etched Baccarat factory mark to the base. Please examine the photographs, which form part of the description.
