This item is a beautiful hand-turned laminated wood rolling pin meticulously crafted and signed by the Vermont wood artist Tom Foster. The vibrant pattern is constructed from New England rock maple logs and the wood is peeled into incredibly thin 1/16-inch veneers, dyed into various colors, and then stacked under heavy pressure to form a thick "sandwich" containing over 40 individual layers of wood. Once the multicolored block is cured, it is lathed down into form. It features a highly durable, non-toxic, FDA-approved food-safe finish that allows it to serve as a functional kitchen tool or an eye-catching display piece. To preserve the bright, distinctive colors and protect the structural integrity of the laminated layers, you should wash gently by hand with mild soapy water and a soft cloth.
