The "Time Machine Series" remains a flagship series of the Custom Shop. This particular guitar is a 1999 Stratocaster from the series' inaugural year.
Of the three versions available at the time—"NOS," "Closet Classic," and "Relic"—this one is a Closet Classic, a highly sought-after specification among enthusiasts.
The body and neck joint bear the so-called "JC stamp," certifying that John Cruz, who would later rise to become a top master builder at the Custom Shop, inspected and selected the wood in the quality control department at the time, giving a glimpse into the use of carefully selected, high-quality tonewoods. Regarding the parts, the rear pickup, potentiometers, capacitor, and bridge saddle (original included) have been replaced.
In terms of condition, it has acquired plenty of scratches and signs of wear over time, resulting in a cool, relic-like look. The frets have been replaced and currently have over 70% remaining, and the neck and truss rod are in perfect working order, so you can play it with confidence.
This guitar boasts an amazing sound that easily outweighs any drawbacks such as the need for parts replacement or wear and tear!
