This antique tin held blasting caps manufactured by the California Cap Company of San Francisco. The tin is empty.

The lid is stamped California Cap Co San Francisco around a standing lion emblem, a mark the company used across its line of caps. Blasting caps were small explosive detonators used to set off dynamite charges, and tins like this one were a common sight around mining camps and construction sites throughout the American West from the late 1800s into the mid 1900s, made to store and transport the caps safely before use.

Condition: As shown in the photos, please look them over closely since they are part of the description. The tin shows heavy surface rust and oxidation throughout the body and lid, with a split and separation along the seam where the lid meets the body. The embossed lettering and lion emblem on the lid remain legible despite the wear. Tin is empty and sold as a collectible piece, not intended for use.

Dimensions: 1.75 inches in diameter, 1.5 inches deep
