I am pleased to offer a superb original postcard showing the Cunard Liner Mauretania after she was painted white for cruising, circa 1933. Good, clear view of a departure from Southampton with an escorting tugboat in shot.  When the Great Depressio worsened, Cunard decided to schedule cruising for Mauretania. This was the twilight of her career and the record breaker was laid up in September 1934 pending disposal. She was scrapped at Rosyth, Scotland, from July 1935. Apparently, among those to protest this decision was US President Franklin D Roosevelt.

lMauretania won the famous Atlantic Blue Riband in September 1909, averaging 26 knots. Publisher E A Sweetman.
