🌟RARE STUART PRESTIGE CASCADE FUCHSIA 4-FLUTE EPERGNE CENTREPIECE LABELLED SIGNED

This listing is for an exceptionally rare and highly decorative four-flute CENTREPIECE EPERGNE, made and signed by STUART CRYSTAL in the much-admired and now discontinued CASCADE pattern.

This magnificent example comprises one tall central trumpet surrounded by three outward-sweeping flutes, all arranged upon a silver-plated support set within a substantial shallow crystal dish. At 12” wide and weighing an impressive 3.7kg, it has genuine presence and creates a spectacular display from every angle.

Each crystal flute is beautifully cut and intaglio engraved with the distinctive CASCADE fuchsia design. Graceful stems and leaves climb around the glass before terminating in pendulous fuchsia flowers, allowing light to travel through the deeply worked decoration and scatter in a sparkling display across the surrounding table.

Cascade is among Stuart Crystal’s most recognisable and desirable floral patterns. Finding individual glasses and bowls is possible, but encountering a complete four-flute epergne—particularly in perfect condition and retaining three original Stuart labels—is considerably more difficult.

This is both a functional flower centrepiece and a substantial piece of decorative British crystal sculpture. Filled with flowers, it would make a breathtaking focal point for a wedding, anniversary dinner or other important celebration; displayed empty, its architectural form and precision cutting provide more than enough theatre of their own.

RESEARCH NOTES:

An epergne is an ornamental table centrepiece traditionally designed to hold flowers, fruit or sweetmeats. Early examples were usually made from silver, but glass and crystal interpretations later allowed makers to exploit the reflection and refraction of light as an important part of the design.

The word is thought to derive from the French “épargne”, meaning saving or economy—the arrangement saved diners from repeatedly passing serving dishes around the table. In this later Stuart Crystal interpretation, the traditional epergne has become an elegant sculptural flower centrepiece.
