| Side 1. Soldier Boy |
| Side 2. Hey Girl You've Changed |
Chicago southsiders The Vondells cut this one 45 in 1968 for Tommy Wills' Airtown Custom label out of Indiana, then effectively vanished. Frontman Lowrell Simon went on to form The Lost Generation, and eventually landed 'Mellow Mellow Right On' in 1979, its bassline Massive Attack would later lift. The 45 he left behind with the Vondells did its own travelling: 'Soldier Boy' and 'Hey Girl You've Changed' became fixtures on the Lowrider Souldies and Northern Soul circuits, the kind of double-sider where both sides command equal gravity.
