Over the coming months I will be selling a collection of impressive vintage American watches, mostly Bulova but with some Elgin, Gruen, Benrus and other vintage brands.

This is a masterpiece of design by Bulova known as the "Wrist Alarm" (model A).  Bearing the 1972 date code (N2) on the rear of the watch case, this superbly designed model has a sweep second hand on a blue, "Bullseye" style dial with a date window feature at the 3.00 position. This watch is as stylish and "current" now as it was when first worn in the early 1970s, It has immense character that always attracts attention. The excellent 17 jewel manual “11AURCD" Bulova-made movement is housed in a heavy stainless steel case. Whilst the watch has minor usage marks which add character and is to be expected on a 54 year old watch, it is hard to find this model in such excellent original condition. The factory-fitted dial has 5 minute arrow markers in white with a secondary inner set of 5 minute markers in pale blue marking the alarm set time. The watch has a clear crystal, free of scratches. It is 39mm long (from the lug tips) and 38mm wide, excluding the 2 Bulova-signed original crowns. It is complemented by a new old stock, good quality brown "stressed" leather watch band and looks very stylish on the wrist.

The watch has been keeping good time over the 48 hours that I've been testing it and the alarm and calendar features are both in good working order.

I have included a copy of an original advert for the watch from the early 1970s.
