The SNAKEBYTE guitar features a body and head shape that James himself evolved from the MX-II (EXP) design he had used for many years. The body and neck are made of mahogany, and the ebony fingerboard, with a snake inlay at the 12th fret, is joined using a set-neck construction.

It is equipped with signature EMG-JH pickups, and the bridge uses TonePros T3BT and T1Z components.
