1993 Eunos Roadster V-Special
(JDM MX-5 Mk1 - NA)
Badged as a Eunos this is the Japanese domestic market version of the Mazda MX-5 that came with more power and being a V-Special has many factory options.
Initially registered in the UK as a Dec 1994 vehicle, making it the first production year of the 1839cc, it would make a perfect base for any turbo build. As a right hand drive import from Japan the odometer shows 194,200 KM (121,000 miles), but when imported the cluster’s speedo has been replaced with the correct MPH dials for UK driving.
As part of the 1994 V-Special trim level this Eunos came with the full tan leather interior, the additional stainless treadplates, sensory sound system (head unit replaced with headrest speakers, V-Special floor mats, Nardi wooden steering wheel and matching handbrake cover in addition to a rare Mazdaspeed gear knob. Alongside these interior upgrades the 130bhp engine drives both rear wheels via a Torsen limited slip differential.
We have had the car in the family since 2023 and have known the car since being owned by a Eunos-loving friend beforehand from 2020. It has been a real joy to own but now reluctantly up for sale due to space restrictions and the need to focus on other projects.
During ownership the car has had a number of enhancements and regular service items carried out. More details and further photos available for serious enquiries, but main features:
- Four-piece Exedy clutch and Redline gearbox fluid – July 2023
- Gearbox front cover gasket, rear crankshaft oil seal – July 2023
- Heated front windscreen (Ricky Evans) – December 2023
- Door poly bushes – December 2023
- 2 x new front tyres (Uniroyal Rain Expert 5) – Aug 2026
- RHR brake caliper (including brake fluid flush) – March 2026
Previous owner changed the timing belt and cam cover in 2020.
Currently the MOT runs to February 2027 with advisories of rear suspension corrosion, this is surface level but viewing is recommended. The paintwork is a very deep multicoloured flake that is not the original Brilliant Black.
This is a very usable and capable Eunos, but does show its age with rust visible around the rear sills and wheel arches on both sides that will also need attention (and have been quoted for these to be repaired locally) - which has been reflected in the price.
NOTE – Hard top currently
fitted to car (as seen in photographs) is NOT included in the
sale price above (to be retained for another car project).
