Here is a wonderfully preserved Penn Royal Court wooden tennis racket, dating approximately to the late 1960s–early 1970s.

The racket has classic laminated-wood construction, a creamy white painted throat, deep burgundy-and-gold trim, handsome wood-grain detailing, and an original brown leather-wrapped grip. The elegant Royal Court graphics give it that unmistakable country-club-era appearance.

What makes this example special is its extraordinary preservation. It looks as though it was purchased, placed inside its cover, and forgotten for the next half-century. Even the strings appear remarkably fresh and orderly.
