Tzute Geometry Shoe

Crafted with visual force and cultural intention, Tzute Geometry Shoe by David Ordoñez Lacayo is a contemporary artifact — a fusion of pre-Columbian design, indigenous weaving, and wearable form. Molded into the shape of a formal dress shoe, the surface is layered with Guatemalan textile-inspired patterns, executed in vivid pigments and inset with geometric silver metalwork that zigzags across the surface like a coded language. Each silver piece appears hand-cut and carefully affixed — elevating the sculpture from object to armor, while the multicolor patterning beneath evokes the vibrant tzutes (ritual cloths) of the Guatemalan highlands. The juxtaposition of textile softness and metallic structure plays with contrast — tradition vs. transformation, adornment vs. utility.
