Vintage Japanese Woodblock Print by Chokosai Eisho -Beauty After Bath Doing Manicure-
Presented is a beautiful Japanese full oban-size woodblock print by Chokosai (Hosoda) Eisho, a renowned ukiyo-e artist of the 18th century, re-carved and reprinted in the 1960s.
Eishō's personal details are unknown. His surviving works show practiced skill, so they likely appeared after years of apprenticeship. He was Eishi's most prominent student and had a prolific output; nearly 200 of his works remain—more than any other student of Eishi's. He produced at least twenty print series published by fourteen publishers, particularly Yamaguchiya Chūsuke. The majority of his work appeared between c. 1792 and c. 1799.
The print depicts a beauty apparently clipping her nails with scissors. She sits relaxed, wearing a light, loose kimono. She is doing her manicure after a bath. The print belongs to a series of prints, "Eight Famous Views of Sitting Places," created in 1795-1796.
This is a woodblock print created using the traditional Japanese woodblock technique.

The condition is very good. Great detail and colors. There is some very minor toning, no foxing, and no losses.
