A fabulous vintage coolie ceiling light shade from France, mouth-blown and hand finished from opaline milk glass, folded and shaped with a clear fused edge. This beautiful floral-inspired glass lamp shade design goes back to the 1900s, and the amount of glass used in this example suggests it dates to the 1920s or 30s (later examples are lighter in weight). We have completed this beautiful piece with a new antiqued brass gallery and British-made brass bulbholder. The electric cable is not included, but we have several colours of twisted fabric flex available in our store, along with vintage style porcelain ceiling roses which would complement this shade beautifully.  If you'd prefer to have plain brass fittings on this shade, we can swap them over, just ask.

In good condition, with just a couple of little nibbles on the very tips of the clear glass frills and one larger chip (see picture), which are hard to see when the light is hanging. Please note that minor imperfections such as little blobs of extra glass, black specks from the firing and nibbles around the neck are also inevitable with items of this age which have been made by hand in small batches. The vast majority of these old shades have little nicks around the top of the neck, totally obscured when the gallery is in place.

Measures approx. 28cm diameter x 10cm height.  The shade weighs 830g. The bulbholder is a B22 bayonet fitting.  Electric flex and bulb are not included - this listing is for the shade, the brass gallery and the bulbholder.
