This is not an anonymous piece of mass-market nautical décor.
It is a substantial, maker-marked vintage wall sculpture created by Boren Enterprises of North Hollywood, California, with its date, maker, location, title and model identification preserved directly on the piece.
The lower portion of the sculpture bears an original incised studio marking that appears to read:
©69
BOREN ENTERPRISES
N. HOLL., CALIF.
The reverse retains its original typed identification label reading:
BE 111
Cutty Sark
Together, these markings provide unusually strong attribution for a vintage decorative sculpture: the producing sculptural studio, North Hollywood origin, 1969 date, original title and Boren Enterprises model number are all physically documented.
The ©1969 studio date is especially significant because the historic British clipper Cutty Sark was launched in Scotland in 1869. This relief was therefore created during the ship’s 100th-anniversary year, giving it an additional connection to the vessel’s maritime history.
It is being described as a centennial-year sculpture rather than an officially commissioned centennial edition, as no separate commissioning document accompanies it.
Unlike a flat ship print or ordinary molded plaque, this is a genuinely sculptural work with dramatic physical depth.
The composition features:
The open and undercut construction of the sails gives the vessel a sense of movement and makes the sculpture appear different as the viewing angle and room lighting change.
The palette combines aged bronze and brown tones with cream sails and expressive turquoise, teal, blue and white water. Its heavily textured surface and architectural relief construction give it a strong late-1960s Southern California studio-art appearance.

Title: Cutty Sark
Model / Inventory Number: BE 111
Form: Large three-dimensional wall sculpture / high-relief bas-relief

The sculpture appears to be constructed from a hollow cast mixed composition or plaster-type sculptural material mounted to an integral backing and subsequently hand finished.
The precise material has not been laboratory tested, so it is being conservatively identified as cast mixed composition rather than incorrectly represented as ceramic, solid wood or bronze.
Preserved in authentic vintage estate-found condition.
This is a large, highly dimensional sculptural object dating to 1969 and it displays visible age-related condition issues. These include chips, cracks, abrasions, finish wear, paint loss and areas of material loss.
Specific condition observations include:
The sculpture has not been cosmetically restored by us. Its existing condition, maker markings, reverse label, surface texture and dimensional construction have all been photographed closely and honestly.
Despite the noted condition, the complete ship composition remains visually powerful when displayed from the front. The wear contributes to the aged, architectural quality of the piece and does not erase its remarkable depth, California studio attribution or historic maritime subject.
Please enlarge and examine every photograph. The photographs form an important part of the condition description.
