The book functions as both an art survey and a practical "how-to" guide. It features black-and-white photographs of mid-century mobile and stabile designs by prominent artists like Alexander Calder, Joan Miró, George Rickey, and the author himself.  It provides instructions for making eight specific modernist mobile designs: Nine Circles, Cherry Pie, Big Dipper, Table Mobile, Fish, Dragon, Christmas Mobile, Flying Saucers.

Condition: Ex-library. The original dust jacket is included and is covered by a protective plastic mylar cover taped to the inside of the front and back covers with yellowed tape, showing light edge wear, scuffing and toning but colors are still bright. Inside pages have standard ex-library items including call number label, Date Due slip, DISCARDED stamp, and pencil writing, otherwise clean with light age toning, and the binding is tight and sound.
