A beautiful and wonderfully romantic Victorian heart ring, hallmarked Birmingham 1870, crafted in 15ct gold and set with seed pearls, rich blue enamel and a central diamond.
The heart-shaped face is surrounded by a halo of seed pearls, with a striking band of deep blue enamel framing the centre. Nestled within is a diamond that seems to be cheekily peeking through the heart. I’m not entirely sure whether it’s shy or just knows how to make an entrance. 😂
The openwork shoulders are particularly lovely and give the ring an ornate, unmistakably Victorian appearance. At over 150 years old, it has all the character and individuality I love about genuine antique jewellery.
Details
* Victorian, Birmingham 1870 * 15ct gold * Diamond * Seed pearls * Blue enamel * Size K * Weight 1.5g * Heart-shaped design * Period hallmarks
Condition
The ring is in lovely antique condition for its age and presents beautifully when worn.
The hallmarks are almost entirely present and legible. There is a small area of the shank which appears to show evidence of historic resizing, resulting in some interruption/wear around that area. One of the shoulders also appears to have undergone a minor repair at some point during the ring’s long life.
There is general age-related wear consistent with an original Victorian piece of this age. Neither the resizing nor the shoulder repair is noticeable when the ring is being worn.
I have included clear, close-up photographs of the hallmark, shank, shoulders and setting rather than trying to hide any signs of its 156-year history, so please study all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
A genuinely charming piece of Victorian jewellery with 156 years of history behind it and, hopefully, plenty more ahead.
