Thank you for viewing this item. Up for sale is a classic, genuine vintage Border Fine Arts resin figurine titled "Shepherd and Collie with Lamb" (Model Year: 1982), beautifully sculpted by the legendary wildlife and country life artist Ray Ayres.
This highly collectible piece was hand-crafted at the original Langholm factory in Scotland, which closed its doors in 2016. It features a traditional hill shepherd with his trusty Border Collie crouched at his feet, and a newborn lamb tucked safely inside the canvas sling bag slung across his body.
Condition Details:
Please read this honest condition report carefully before purchasing or bidding. The item is being sold in Fair to Good vintage condition with some obvious, age-related imperfections:
- Shepherd Figurine: The very tip of the shepherd's left thumb has broken off, leaving a flat, unpainted resin break. The rest of his body, hat, and jacket are fully intact.
- Animals: Both the lamb and the Border Collie are in excellent shape. The dog’s ears, muzzle, and tail are completely free of chips. Please note that any white marks visible on the dog's black ears in the close-up photos are purely reflections from the camera flash glare, not paint loss.
- Walking Stick: The black walking stick has become unpegged/detached from the base hole. It still rests easily in the shepherd's hand for display, or it can be easily glued down into the base by the new owner. The black paint on the stick shows prominent scuffing and lines of paint loss along its midsection, revealing the lighter material beneath.
- Wooden Plinth: The figurine comes with its original kidney-shaped dark wood display base and brass mounting pegs. The wood has a couple of minor surface scratches in one corner which have caused a slight, shallow split along the natural grain.
- Underside & Labels: The original gold foil factory label reading "Hand Made in Scotland by Border Fine Arts" is fully intact on the green felt underside of the resin figurine. The green protective felt on the bottom of both the resin piece and the wooden plinth is clean, intact, and securely glued, showing only minor surface lint.
- General: The piece is a little dusty from years of display and will benefit from a gentle clean with a soft paintbrush.
Please study all the provided photographs closely to fully inspect these condition points before purchasing. The item will be packaged with extreme care using extra padding to protect the delicate limbs during transit.
