This is a the largest, most unique, vintage Mother of Pearl you will probably ever see!
Not only is the oval Mother of Pearl cab HUGE, but it is also a perfect specimen with deep iridescent reflectiveness and the cab is flawless with no pits or dimples. The ring is made of very thickly cast sterling silver and is signed 925.
The frame around the cab is a Mid Century Modern double layer design with small round polished sterling beads all the way around the perimeter.
The ring looks like it might be a Mexico design but with no Mexico mark, I believe the ring was probably made by American Indians in the desert southwest in the 1960s or 1970s. It is assuredly hand crafted as the sterling setting was hand cut and hand soldered.
The ring is a size 5 3/4 and the ring band is not adjustable.
The face of the ring measures 1 5/8" tall x 1" wide or 40 mm x 25 mm. The ring weighs a hefty 15 grams.
The entire ring is in microscopically clean and bright and in well cared for vintage condition. The Mother of Pearl is an excellent specimen. The sterling ring band and the sterling on the back has some light signs of gentle handling. If you would like the ring size to be enlarged, a jeweler can enlarge the band for you.
This ring has been professionally stored away in my jewelry collection for over 25 years and never worn.
