A gorgeous opaline glass coolie light shade, sourced in France and probably dating from the 1950s.  Usually, these coolies are in opaque white milk glass or opaline. However, this one has a beautiful opalescence - I hope the picture shows this well enough. When the light isn't shining through, it's a very pale green-white colour, most unusual. A vintage original, we have completed it with an antiqued brass gallery and brass bulb fitting.  These period vintage shades were originally hung from high ceilings in old kitchens and parlours in France, sometimes on the end of rise and fall suspensions.  Typically French, they look gorgeous in any room.

The shade measures approx. 25cm diameter and 5cm high. The bulbholder is bayonet fitting.  The cable and bulb are not included. We also have vintage French ceramic ceiling roses for sale separately, to add an authentic finish, as well as vintage style twisted fabric flex.  Both are in our ebay store.

As these are original items from an era when such things were not mass produced in single factories, please expect slight flaws and imperfections.  The vast majority of these old shades have nibbles around the top of the neck where the gallery is fitted, invisible when it's in place. This shade has a manufacturing flaw in the form of a small bobble of glass on the top - see pictures.

Please see our other listings for these and more shades, along with other carefully sourced period light fittings and objects of interest.
