Description
The Methodist Hymn-Book with Tunes — Vintage Methodist Hymnal in Zip-Around Case
A substantial vintage copy of The Methodist Hymn-Book with Tunes, published in London by the Methodist Conference Office, 25–35 City Road, EC1.
This is the music edition containing both hymn texts and their accompanying tunes, making it an interesting piece of British Methodist and church-music history.
The work was originally published in 1933 and remained in use through numerous later printings and editions. No precise publication date for this particular copy has been established from the pages examined, so the listing deliberately makes no unsupported claim regarding its exact printing year.
Personal Inscription
The front of the book contains a handwritten personal inscription:
“Alan, My love always, darling. Ann. 5th November 1964.”
This provides a useful period reference showing that this particular copy was already in private ownership by November 1964.

This is a well-used older religious book and shows considerable evidence of previous ownership.
The outer black binding has rubbing, scuffing and general age-related wear.
The fitted zip-around case is particularly worn around the fabric edges and corners, with fraying and deterioration clearly visible in the photographs.
The metal zip and distinctive vintage zipper pull remain present.
Internally there is age-related spotting/foxing, marks, creasing and general handling wear.
A handwritten personal inscription dated 5 November 1964 is present.
Please examine all photographs carefully, as they show the actual book being offered and form an important part of the condition description.
The volume has not been individually collated page-by-page and therefore no claim is made that every page is present.
An appealing piece of vintage Methodist, Christian and British church-music history, particularly attractive for collectors of old hymnals and religious books.
