Remington Rand Portable Typewriter 1939 Model 5 (Canadian) With Case - Serial # CB10149
One for the true typewriter collector.
This Canadian Remington Rand Portable Typewriter Model 5, together with its carrying case, is in superb condition.
Clean, no rust, platen in good condition, fully working and recently fully overhauled and serviced by one of the few remaining vintage typewriter engineers still in business in the UK (see the fourth photo where he has included his own servicing label in the box lid beneath the original Remington label - "The Typewriter Man"). The machine has had very little use since the service. A copy of the engineers overhaul/servicing invoice is shown in the last photo (with address details blocked out).
Types beautifully as can be seen in the typing sample in the third photo.
Original metal ribbon spools.
Outer box measurements 33cm (13") x 33cm (13") x 16cm (6 ¼") approx.
Serial number CB10149 establishes that this model was made in 1939 (serial number shown on box label in the fourth photo and on the right hand side of the machine behind the keys in the 23rd photo).
I have included photos of the typewriter and case from all angles to show the truly stunning condition of both.
Please examine the photos as they form an integral part of the description.
Note the exclusive Remington Rand Self Starter Paragraph Key feature that indents 5 spaces for columns and lists.
The case locks work but I do not have a key.
I found a copy of a generic Remington Rand instruction manual online and will include a print of this.

Due to the fragile nature of typewriters, I prefer collection only sales. These machines can go out of alignment or become seriously damaged if bumped or dropped in postal transit.
