Description

From Dragon to Dragon by Mark L Isaac-Williams — Signed & Inscribed 2004 First Edition Hardback

An uncommon hardback copy of From Dragon to Dragon by Mark L Isaac-Williams, first published by The Book Guild Ltd in 2004.

This copy contains a handwritten personal inscription:

“To: Stephan, Best wishes Mark. 2009.”

The inscription appears to be from the author, Mark L Isaac-Williams, although the signature has not been independently authenticated and the book is therefore offered as found.

About the Book

From Dragon to Dragon tells the remarkable story of the author’s parents, Margery and Leonard Isaac.

Margery sailed for Shanghai in 1936 to marry Leonard, who worked with the Chinese Maritime Customs. Their lives subsequently became entwined with extraordinary events in pre-war Shanghai and Hong Kong, the Sino-Japanese conflict and the upheaval caused by the Japanese advance.

The story includes Leonard’s experiences with the Chinese Maritime Customs, including an armed encounter with smugglers for which he was later decorated.

An unusual piece of British, Chinese, Shanghai and Hong Kong social and family history.
