Thea Gouverneur began cross-stitch design in her Dutch hometown of Sassenheim in 1959. She is now one of the leading cross stitch designers and her design kits are sold worldwide.

Growing up, Thea was always surrounded by onion fields and flowers and these flowers became a great inspiration for her designs.

"Sometimes people ask me where I got the inspiration for my designs, a question that always surprises me. I always answer: When you look out your window, you will see inspiration everywhere - in gardens, in hedges, in fields, in forests and in woods hills. There are so many beautiful flowers, plants, bushes and trees growing that there is not enough time to sew them all".
