Every single doll in this Lillian Vernon set was entirely painted by an artisan using hand-held brushes.

The wood itself is entirely hand-lathed. Each hollow shell had to be spun on a mechanical lathe by a woodworker manually operating chisels. The craftsman would visually gauge the width of each inner layer so they could drop down and stack seamlessly into one another.
