Extremely rare vintage CARLTON bongoes 8” and 6” x 5” in excellent conditions with SONOR hoops – read for description

 

Please find a beutiful pair of Carlton bongoes from the late 50’s, early 60’s - 8”x 5” and 6” x 5”.

You may look at the pictures, shells are perfectly round, with NO cracks or other damages, 6 ply, 7,5 mm.

The finish is a very delicate greyish Light Blue Pearl, in fantastic conditions BUT a little missing piece of wrap, unfortunately right under the badge.

Sparkling chromium-plated lugs and original slotted dots - with NO signs of rust.

One screw missing from the tom holder.

As you may see from the late 50’s catalogues, these bongoes were equipped with single flange hoops with claw hooks, which are simply impossibile to find nowadays - by the way these bongoes were rather expensive, £18 in 1959..

I did not want to buy spare parts, and after some research I found a pair of NOS early 60’s 3 flanges Sonor hoops, and this is what you may see in the pictures, equipped with brand new Remo Ambassador skins - played once with rubber mallets.
