World War II Era! a piece of history.  5 francs-allied military currency. The notes were printed in the U.S.A. and issued by the allied military during the initial stages of the liberation of France in 1944. They were not approved by the provisional government of the French Republic but were accepted by the banks and for payments of taxes. The larger denominations were demonetized in June 1945 but the 2, 5, and 10 Francs were not demonetized until the introduction of the Euro.
