Up for sale is an authentic, original early 1940s World War II era military street map of the City of San Juan, Puerto Rico. This highly detailed cartographic document was produced under the direction of the Department Engineer, Puerto Rico Department (P.R.D.), and compiled by the U.S. War Department Corps of Engineers.


Technical details printed on the map include:

- Drawn by: Guy P. Ridout (U.S. Engineer Office, San Juan, P.R.)

- Source Data: Compiled from U.S.G.S. Field Sheets of San Juan Quadrangle, Q.M. Office (Post of San Juan), and U.S.C. & G.S. Chart No. 908.

- Special Features: Includes a 28-point landmark index identifying critical military and civic structures of the era (including El Morro, San Cristobal Fortress, HQ Puerto Rican Department, Post HQ, and the School of Tropical Medicine). It also features a specific designated map marker indicator for "War Department Property."

Condition Details:

The paper remains crisp. There are no pinholes or tack holes present. It features the standard creases/folds from its original military storage/pocket compilation. Two corners show a small amount of creasing/bending, and there is a very small, light area of discoloration/staining visible on the top right edge.
