Original Real Photo Postcard (RPPC) featuring a studio portrait of a young woman, dating to the early 20th century.
The reverse gives this otherwise unidentified portrait a particularly nice Ida Grove, Iowa connection. It is addressed to:
Miss Blanche Mill
Ida Grove
Iowa
The handwritten message reads approximately:
“Dear Blanche —
How do you like it?
I hope you have a very Merry Xmas & Happy New Year.
I know you will.
Good-bye,
Anna Fisher”
This appears to have been sent as a personal photograph from Anna Fisher to Blanche Mill of Ida Grove, Iowa, presumably around the Christmas/New Year season. The woman pictured is very likely connected to the correspondence, although her identity cannot be conclusively established from the card alone.
An appealing piece of Ida Grove and Ida County, Iowa social history, preserving the names of two women and their personal correspondence from the early postcard era.
Good vintage condition with normal age-related wear. Light corner and edge wear, scattered spotting/foxing and toning are present. Portrait image remains quite sharp with excellent facial detail. Reverse contains the original handwritten message and address. No stamp or postal cancellation. Please see photos for exact condition.
