Vintage Antonio Borsato Italian porcelain figurine featuring a beautifully modeled pair of birds perched together on a rustic tree-stump setting decorated with dimensional berries and leaves.

The birds are finely hand painted in warm shades of golden brown, cream, blue-gray, deep green and burgundy, with particularly attractive feather detailing and glossy glazed surfaces. Their large, powerful beaks suggest grosbeak or hawfinch-type songbirds.

The elaborate naturalistic base is modeled as an old tree or stump surrounded by clusters of berries and foliage, giving the piece considerable depth and character from every viewing angle.

The underside retains the original black and gold “Porcellane e Gres d'Arte – A. Borsato – Milano – Made in Italy” label along with the Borsato factory mark.

Antonio Borsato was known for highly detailed Italian figural ceramics and porcelain sculptures, particularly naturalistic animal, bird and human subjects. This is a charming vintage example of his bird work and displays beautifully from all sides. No box.
