Unusual early real photo postcard (RPPC) showing two men inside the Valley Temple of Khafre at Giza, Egypt, near the Great Sphinx and the Pyramid of Khafre.
The photograph provides an excellent early view of the temple's distinctive interior architecture, including its massive stone piers and lintels. One man is posed in Western-style clothing and appears to wear a fez/tarboosh, while the second man wears a long traditional robe.
The Valley Temple forms part of the funerary complex of Pharaoh Khafre (Chephren) and dates to Egypt's Old Kingdom, approximately the 26th century BCE. Its surviving interior is especially noted for monumental granite construction.
This photograph itself appears to date from the early 20th century, providing an interesting glimpse of both the ancient monument and the people associated with Egypt's developing tourist and archaeological landscape.
The reverse bears the DEFENDER diamond trademark. Card is unused with no written identification, so the location has been identified from the architectural features visible in the photograph.
Good vintage condition with light-to-moderate surface wear, scratches and age-related marks. Some edge and corner wear is present. Image retains strong architectural detail and contrast.
