Please see my feedback. I have been selling amber fossils for over 15 years on eBay and do not sell fake amber only genuine material from now extinct plant sources not glass or plastic embedded with present day inclusions. This piece is genuine amber formed over millions of years of polymerization.
This is a fully polished piece of Burmite (Burmese) amber that contains a super rare tick with piercing fangs from the Cretaceous Period. Perhaps it fed on dinosaur blood?
With the tick is a mite and insects including a cricket with long antennae, a beetle, a fly. There is also a small twig in this amber fossil.
This tick would have been on the Earth at the time of the dinosaurs including T-Rex and Triceratops!
According to Secrets of a Lost World: Dominican Amber and Its Inclusions by Rafael Jie Chiang Wu, ‘ticks are classified into 2 families, hard ticks and soft ticks. They are rarely found in amber. Normally they parasitize mammals, birds, and reptiles. They are annoying pests and some are disease vectors. The number of mite and tick species rivals that of insects, and there may be thousands more to be identified.’
Geological studies have dated Burmite (Burmese) amber to be around 100 million years old.
The piece itself weighs 4.1 grams with approximate dimensions of 3.2 cm length by 2.2 cm width and 0.65 cm height. NOTE: 2.54 cm is 1 inch.
Burmese (Burmite) amber has been dated to be Cretaceous in age (around 100 million years old) and would have been sticky resin during the time of the dinosaurs.
When one realizes that this amber has been dated to around 100 million years old, it is something to see organisms from that time.

Please note that the saltwater test to identify real from fake amber is not reliable. The saltwater test claims that real amber will float in saltwater while fake amber will sink.
However, many amber sources or even specimens will not float in saltwater as their botanical (plant) composition as well as fossil inclusions are such that they are more dense than saltwater and so sink. I do not sell fake amber. My feedback should help demonstrate this.
