VINTAGE AUTHENTIC 1942 WWII GERMAN PRIMITIVE WOOD RATCHET ALARM/TRENCH RATTLE

This is a great piece of WWII Wartime history.

It is a wood ratchet alarm that was used to notify people for a gas or air raid.

It has 3 sptingy wood arms that clack against the hollow wood body when it is cranked. This one is unusual in that it has an actual crank rather than just a swinging arm.

It is sometimes called a trench rattle.

It is marked with 1942 and BB. It is also marked with some Russian letters BBKRJ (backwards K) indicating it may have been from the Eastern European or Soviet-Adjacent region. 

The end is marked I.H.B. As you can see part of that end board is missing.

Please check the photos to see all the details including a close=up of a break in one of the springy wood pieces, which could be glued to at least hold it firmly in place.
