A scarce signed 1st edition/1st printing - in used near very good condition - of this acclaimed autobiography from the Nepali/British legendary mountaineer and former soldier Nirmal 'Nimsdai' Purja (b. 1983).   Having served for 15 years with distinction in the British Army, he subsequently devoted his life to mountaineering, where he broke/holds a number of records, particularly focusing on the 14 global mountains that are above 8000m high.

Tragically, an avalanche struck on 30 July 2026 whilst Purja was leading a 10-climber international team to the summit of Broad Peak (the world's 12th highest mountain) and all were killed.  In his poignant final message on social media, Purja explained that he had not planned to climb Broad Peak, but having successfully climbed G2 (the 13th highest), reaching the top of Broad Peak would then only leave him 1 more of the '14' to climb again to become the first person to climb all of them at least twice without using additional oxygen supplies.

'Beyond possible.  One soldier, fourteen peaks - my life in the death zone ' published by Hodder and Stoughton in London on 12 November 2020, 1st edition/1st printing, standard modern hardback, (x) + 305 pages.   Assorted colour photographs within.

The brave and inspiring true story of renowned climber Nims Purja's mission to summit the fourteen highest peaks on Earth - as seen on Netflix.

Fourteen mountains on Earth tower over 8,000 metres above sea level, an altitude where the brain and body withers and dies.  Until recently, the world record for climbing them all stood at nearly eight years.  So I announced I was summiting them in under seven months . . .

People laughed.  They told me I was crazy, even though I'd sharpened my climbing skills on the brutal Himalayan peaks of Everest and Dhaulagiri.  But I possessed more than enough belief, strength and resilience to nail the job, having taken down enemy gunmen and terrorist bomb makers while serving with the Gurkhas and the UK Special Forces.

I wanted to show the world a new truth: that with bravery and enough heart and drive, the impossible is possible.
