Up for sale is a historically significant WWII-era 1940s Unique Art Manufacturing Co. G.I. Joe and His K-9 Pups mechanical wind-up toy. This highly collectible mechanical figurine is masterfully constructed from stamped lithographed tin. The whimsical soldier character is depicted wearing a classic green army uniform with corporal rank chevrons, a brown belt, and an olive drab M1-style combat helmet.
The toy features a clever mechanical engineering layout where his static arms are attached to two fixed puppy carrier crates. These crates house small roller wheels at the base which act as balance stabilizers. Both crates feature the same "G.I. Joe and His K-9 Pups" lithographed dog print. When the integrated winding key on his hip is turned, his internal clockwork motor triggers a fast, running mechanical shuffle, causing the figure to zip forward balancing atop the twin roller casings. This loose piece is tested and in working condition.

Condition Report
This near antique toy is in very good operational vintage condition. The internal clockwork spring has been fully wound and tested; the internal motor gears engage cleanly, and the legs move back and forth at a high speed. The attached arms and suitcases are structurally solid, keeping the integrated roller wheels perfectly aligned for proper tabletop rolling action. Cosmetically, the identical dog print graphics on both sides of the crates remain incredibly clear, vibrant, and legible. As an authentic, played-with 80-year-old metal toy, it shows expectable moderate surface scratching, minor scuffing, edge paint loss, and small areas of typical vintage oxidation/aging on the inner legs. No original box or paperwork is included.
