The PowerShot
SX720 HS is a high-zoom model featuring a new lens design
that enables a slimmer body. By adopting a new mechanism that retracts the lens
groups away from the optical axis when the lens is stored, it achieves an
optical 40x zoom covering a wide focal range equivalent to 24–960mm, while
maintaining the compact size and portability of its predecessor. In addition,
with the DIGIC 6 imaging processor optimized for video recording, combined with
5-axis image stabilization (vertical, horizontal, rotational, pitch, and yaw)
using both optical and electronic correction, the camera delivers smooth and
stable video shooting with reduced camera shake.
