Vintage 1966 ITT FACE Standard Jewel Box Rotary Phone Yellow with green "jewel" US 4-Prong Plug

Up for sale is a rare, highly collectible 1960s "Jewel Box" (Portagioie) space-saving landline telephone.

Designed and manufactured in Milan, Italy by Industrie FACE Standard (an Italian subsidiary of ITT), this iconic piece of Space Age / Mid-Century Modern pop design is styled to look like a sleek, seamless jewelry box when closed.

A unique feature of this design is the distinct alignment ridge running along the top of the handset; this acts as a guide to slot the handset perfectly flush back into the contoured groove of the base.

Condition and mechanical functionality

This unit is in excellent mechanical shape, though it is being sold untested for active line functionality as there is no analog line available to test a live call.

Production stamp: The underside features its original factory ink stamp dating the phone precisely to November 17, 1966.

Rotary dial: Rotates smoothly and returns with normal mechanical tension. No face plate.

Line cord: Retracts cleanly into its base-reel mechanism with zero resistance.

Hook switch button: The central clear button works perfectly, pressing down and springing back instantly without sticking. Activates retracting cord immediately.

Ringer volume switch: The mechanical Loud/Medium/Soft ringer slider switch on the base moves smoothly between all three detents.

Cosmetics: Standard light surface wear, minor scuffs, and base scratches consistent with its vintage age. There are no cracks or chips in the yellow plastic housing. Please refer carefully to the photos for exact cosmetic condition. Missing two "feet". See photos.
