Vintage Vostok Komandirskie (Командирские) Mechanical Watch | Cal. 2414A | Maritime Sailing Dial | Russian Federation Post-Soviet Era | Excellent Condition

Description

Offered for sale is an authentic vintage Vostok (Восток) Komandirskie (Командирские) mechanical wristwatch, manufactured in the Russian Federation during the post-Soviet era. This example features a striking maritime dial depicting sailing ships beneath dramatic rays of sunlight breaking through the clouds, a design characteristic of the commemorative and military-themed watches produced by Vostok during the 1990s and early 2000s.

Marked "СДЕЛАНО В РОССИИ" (Made in Russia) at the bottom of the dial and powered by the dependable Vostok Caliber 2414A manual-wind movement, this watch represents the continuation of one of Russia's most iconic military watch lines following the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

Presented in excellent vintage condition, this example features a chrome-finished case, bidirectional rotating timing bezel with red accents, signature screw-down crown, acrylic crystal, and a stainless steel screw-down caseback bearing the Russian Federation's double-headed eagle coat of arms, emphasizing its post-Soviet production.

History

The Vostok Komandirskie, meaning "Commander's Watch," was originally developed during the 1960s for the Soviet Ministry of Defense. These watches were awarded or sold primarily to military officers and personnel, earning a reputation for rugged reliability, practical engineering, and distinctive military-inspired designs.

Following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, Vostok continued production under the Russian Federation. While many of the proven mechanical movements remained unchanged, dial markings transitioned from "Сделано в СССР" (Made in USSR) to "Сделано в России" (Made in Russia), and new commemorative dial designs celebrated Russia's military history, naval heritage, and national identity.

This watch represents that transitional period, combining the legendary Vostok mechanical movement with patriotic artwork unique to post-Soviet production.

The Dial

The defining feature of this watch is its beautiful maritime sailing dial, finished in deep shades of blue and depicting a dramatic naval scene.

Highlights include:

The dial remains exceptionally well preserved with vibrant colors and crisp printing.

Movement

Powering the watch is the trusted Vostok Caliber 2414A, one of Russia's most durable and proven mechanical movements.

Movement Specifications

Renowned for its durability and ease of maintenance, the 2414A has earned a reputation as one of the most dependable mechanical movements ever produced by Vostok.

Case & Caseback

The watch features the classic Komandirskie military-style case finished in bright chrome with sharp angular crown guards and a bidirectional rotating timing bezel featuring alternating black numerals and distinctive red accents.

The signature screw-down crown provides the characteristic Vostok stem design that helps protect the movement from moisture and impact.

The stainless steel screw-down caseback features an embossed double-headed eagle, the official coat of arms of the Russian Federation, surrounded by the Cyrillic inscription:

"ВОДОНЕПРОНИЦАЕМЫЕ РОССИЯ"

which translates to:

"Water Resistant – Russia."

This caseback design immediately identifies the watch as a genuine post-Soviet Russian production example.

⌚ Vintage Watch Disclaimer

ComradeChronos specializes in authentic vintage Soviet and Russian watches, many of which are 30–50+ years old.

While watches are inspected and confirmed to be functioning prior to shipment (unless sold as non-running or for parts), vintage mechanical watches are delicate instruments. They may require adjustment, regulation, or servicing depending on their service history and age.

Please note:

Normal variations in timekeeping are expected from vintage mechanical movements.

Due to the age of these watches, shipping vibrations or impacts may occasionally cause a watch to stop running, require a gentle shake or manual winding to restart, or reveal a pre-existing mechanical issue that was not apparent during testing.

Water resistance cannot be guaranteed on any vintage watch regardless of original factory specifications, and we do not recommend exposing vintage watches to water unless they have been professionally pressure-tested after purchase.

Purchasing a vintage mechanical watch means understanding that these timepieces are collectible historical objects, not modern quartz watches.
