Offered here is a beautifully presented matching pair of classic British hi-fi components: the celebrated A&R Cambridge A60 integrated amplifier and its purpose-designed T21 stereo FM tuner.
Both units have been serviced, are fully working and are presented in great vintage cosmetic condition, complete with their attractive matching wooden sleeves. These pieces have had just one owner from new, so they really have been loved.
The A60 is one of the landmark British integrated amplifiers of the late 1970s. Launched as A&R Cambridge’s first product, it established the reputation of the company that would later become Arcam. The matching T21 followed as its natural visual and musical partner, making this a particularly appealing period system.
Introduced in 1976, the A60 was the first amplifier produced by Amplification & Recording Cambridge. Its success gave the company the foundation from which the later Arcam brand developed.
Rather than relying on excessive styling or headline power figures, the A60 combined sensible engineering, a capable phono stage, useful controls and a clean, restrained appearance. Its approximate 40-watt-per-channel output gives it enough flexibility to partner a broad range of vintage and modern speakers.
The controls include bass, treble and balance adjustment, mono operation and a high-frequency filter intended to reduce record noise, tuner hiss or other unwanted high-frequency interference.
The T21 was designed as the matching tuner for the A60, sharing its proportions, wooden styling and understated front-panel design.
It combines conventional manual tuning with five adjustable preset buttons, allowing favourite FM stations to be selected quickly once tuned and stored. Its compact, elegant appearance makes it a particularly satisfying companion to the amplifier.
Although A60 amplifiers still appear periodically, clean matching T21 tuners are less commonly encountered. Finding both together, serviced and working, creates a more complete and collectible vintage A&R system.
Both components are in great overall cosmetic condition for their age.
These are genuine vintage components rather than newly manufactured products. Minor marks, small imperfections and natural variation in the wooden finish may be visible when examined closely. Please study all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.
Both the A60 amplifier and T21 tuner have been serviced and are fully working.
Please retain only the tests actually completed and add details of the service work where known. Despite being serviced and operating correctly when listed, vintage electronics may eventually require further maintenance.
