A one of a kind large natural rainbow colored Australian white pinfire opal weighing 3.89 carats.
In shade or very low light this opal appears quite white with little play of color. In direct lighting conditions large opal has small sparks of rainbow colors in every color of the rainbow against a white body color. Like all precious opals the play of color is most visible in direct or bright lights. The photos show some of the range of ways the opal appears in different lighting conditions. This is a subtle, mysterious opal with delicate petite lights of color appearing across the whole surface in direct light.
It measures 19.53mm by 11.49mm by 3.11mm.
The back of the opal is unpolished often the case with natural opals, the top surface with stunning high polish and such a delicate play of color! The size is ideal for a very special ring or a pendant.
This vintage opal is very stable and not prone to crazing unlike hydrophane (welo opal) available in recent times that is prone to crazing and alteration. It would make a wonderful choice for that perfect October birthstone or a unique engagement or wedding pendant or ring stone.
