Kingdom of Württemberg 1851 3 Kreuzer black on yellow paper (First Issue) with “Coppingen” postmark:

This is from Württemberg’s very first postage stamp issue, released on 1 October 1851 (the classic Coat of Arms series).

Key Details:

Design: Royal coat of arms (shield with three stag antlers) in a circular frame with “WÜRTTEMBERG” at top and “3 KREUZER” vertically on the sides.
Paper / Printing: Black print on yellow paper (one of the characteristic coloured papers used for security in the 1851 issue).
Perforation: Imperforate (as issued).
Postmark: Circular date stamp reading “Coppingen” (old spelling of Göppingen). Göppingen was (and still is) a town in Württemberg. Clear, named town cancels from smaller offices like Göppingen are desirable and add a small premium.

This is a nice, collectible classic from Württemberg’s inaugural issue. The 3Kr value paid the basic letter rate. The black-on-yellow combination is attractive, and the Göppingen postmark is a bonus for postmark collectors.
