DESCRIPTION A lovely set of 4 fine bone china salad or dessert plates from Spode in the Chelsea pattern. All of my pieces are English Spode.

These plates are from a dinner service with a very interesting provenance. The vendor was a former chef to HM Queen Elizabeth II. He subsequently owned the Balmoral Hotel in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. He kindly provided the following information…

“I bought the dinner service for a lunch I prepared at my hotel for the Earl and countess of Harewood. They were having their cousin Prince Michael of Kent staying for the weekend. I made an asparagus mousse followed by roast crispy duck and Grand Marnier souffle. The service was used especially for this occasion”.

As far as I’m aware the dinner service was used only for this occasion.

CONDITION In mint condition showing no sign of use or wear. 1st quality.

SIZE Approx. 19.75cm/7" in diameter .

MAKERS MARKS All marked with the Spode backstamp.
