A very sweet oval ravier from H.B. & Cie (Hippolyte Boulenger & Cie, Choisy-le-Roi), decorated in their "Coquelicots" pattern: a lively border of poppies and daisies in soft blue-grey transferware. The centre is left plain, and the whole piece has that beautiful timeworn glaze you only get on a piece that's been used and loved for over a century.
It's a great size for olives, nuts, or a little antipasti spread — or just as pretty propped on a shelf as part of a collection.
Condition: Lovely and honest for its age — fine crazing throughout the glaze and gentle surface staining in the well, as shown in photos. Some little nibbles around the edge, pictured.
