Vintage 1955 Alfred Dunhill "Sylph" lift-arm petrol desk lighter and letter opener combination. This complete historical set features a textured brown leather handle with gold-tooled lattice and star detailing. The polished brass blade features a crisp period monogram "F.F.S."

This item includes extensive corporate provenance. It comes with the original presentation letter dated December 28, 1955, on Everest & Jennings company letterhead, presenting the piece to Mr. Fenton F. Sully of Germany. The original red and blue gold-stamped Dunhill cardboard presentation box with its inner protective paper sleeve is also included.

Mechanically, the lift-arm retains strong spring tension and the strike wheel moves freely. The original cotton wick remains intact. Natural verdigris and light oxidized patina are present near the wick chimney hole from age. The brass blade shows minor surface micro-scratching consistent with period office use. The original box shows significant edge wear and corner splits but remains whole. Lighter is dry and untried with fuel or flint.
