Here we have a pair of rare coins dating to the Wang Mang regime Xia Dynasty (9 to 23 AD). 

The Huo Bu or "Money Spade," is a distinctive bronze spade coin issued by Emperor Wang Mang of the Xin Dynasty (9–23 CE) during his fourth coinage reform in 14 CE. It is highly prized by numismatists for its unique artistry and historical significance. 

The coins are bronze. Technical examination with a high powered microscope of the patina and visual examination including assessment of manufacturing and comparison to known examples confirms each coin is genuine of the period. 

The coins weigh 15.8 grams (57 x 23mm) and 17.9 grams (58 x 23mm). 
The heavier example has visible iron rich concretions to the back surface of the coin. 
Remnants from excavation are present on both examples. 
Naturally occurring verdigris is present. 

The pair are exciting, rare and wonderful and look sensational as a display.
