As a sculptor working notably in wood, stone, and metal, he found in photography a previously unsuspected means of storytelling. While he initially had a particular interest in macrophotography—a field in which he excelled due to the uniqueness of his photos—he quickly dedicated himself to family photography as his family grew in recent years. Between 2007 and 2012, Alain Laboile won a multitude of amateur and professional awards, including first prizes in the Canon competitions "Les 20 ans d’Eos" in 2007 and "Le défi Eos" in 2008 in the macro category.
