Disco Segreta have developed a good instinct for the stranger corners of Italo disco history, and this resurrection of Govindo's near-mythical 1983 single feels particularly worthwhile. Recorded in Martinique by Mario Baldoni aka Miro, 'Ou Ka Vini Kom Moin' sits in that wonderfully hazy zone where cosmic disco, Caribbean rhythm and early synth-pop technology start bleeding into one another. The original 12" vocal version is the real prize, all rubbery LinnDrum patterns, humid synth chords and soft-focus melodies drifting across the mix like heat rising off concrete after rain. The instrumental pushes the drum programming further forward, while Marcello Giordani's excellent 'Hypnomix' toughens the groove into something colder and more electronic without flattening the original's strange dream-state atmosphere.
