Chinese Blue & White Porcelain Cup & Saucer – Late Qing Dynasty, Guangxu Period, c.1875-1900s

An attractive Chinese blue and white porcelain cup and saucer, dating to the late Qing dynasty, probably Guangxu period.

Both pieces bear four-character underglaze blue Kangxi Nian Zhi (康熙年制) marks to the bases.

The saucer is finely decorated with floral and foliate designs, while the cup is hand-painted with figures amongst flowers and foliage. Although not presented as an originally matched set, the two pieces are closely related in period, style and marks and display very well together.

Dimensions:

Saucer: 13.5 cm diameter.

Cup: 7.5 cm diameter × 7.2 cm high.

Condition:

The saucer has some small rim nibbles. No hairlines or major chips.

The cup has small rim nibbles and one chipped area to the outer edge of the rim which has been filled/repaired. The corresponding inner edge of the rim remains intact. Please see the close-up photographs of this repair.
