Large Moorcroft Salt-Glazed Fish Jug
Fish designs are a reoccurring theme in Moorcroft from the early Florian Ware Macintyre designs through salt glaze patterns in the 1920s and 30s to more contemporary Trout patterns. This is a large slat-glazed jug from the 1920s to 30s by William Moorcroft. It holds about 4 pints.
The jug body is in excellent conditions with no signs of damage. There is a visible hair-line in the glaze internally but this does not propagate to the outside. It looks as if the handle has broken off and been reapplied professionally. Though this is not obvious without close inspection.
