About Car:
The Paris-Dakar Rally covers approximately 11,000 km over 20 days, primarily through the African desert. In the 11th edition, held from late 1988 to mid-January 1989, the Peugeot 405T16GR (Grand Raid) dominated the field, taking first and second place. While its styling resembles Peugeot's four-door sedan 405, its interior is a completely special machine. Its chassis is comparable to that of a racing car, and it is equipped with a mid-mounted turbocharged DOHC engine producing 400 horsepower. It is equipped with a full-time 4WD system, transmitting powerful power to all four axles. The two Peugeots driven by Vatanen and Ickx displayed overwhelming speed, leaving their rivals in the dust, and after a close battle, the Vatanen/Berglund duo emerged victorious.
